Seward Community Support Program (CSP) & Drop-In Center

The CSP consists of a team of mental health practitioners that work with adults diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness residing across Hennepin County communities.  To increase overall stability, improve health and wellness, and to support the member’s ability to remain in the community, the team assesses the individual’s goals and then provides or coordinates services to support folks in moving toward those goals.  Some of the services provided include:

  • Fostering a community drop-in space that strives to ensure all individuals can feel safe, welcome, and valued, and can access mental health support from peers and counselors.

  • Supporting CSP members in accessing resources to find safe and affordable housing, and support in maintaining their housing.

  • Obtaining and maintaining health insurance benefits.

  • Assisting with job applications, finding and maintaining employment and moving toward or maintaining financial stability.

  • Providing training/education about mental illness, treatment, recovery and independent living skills.

  • Providing mental health crisis support and resource connection.

  • Psychosocial groups which help foster social support, prevent islolation and promote recovery.

  • Community activities that give individuals the opportunity to enjoy public outings and build stronger connections to community.

  • A light lunch each day we are open, and a large dinner of the month is provided the last Thursday of the month.

Racial equity task force at the CSp

The CSP has a Racial Equity Task Force (RETF) to continue conversation and actions around racial equity and anti-racism. See the group section in the newsletter PDF for the group details! In our conversations with members in the wake of George Floyd’s murder and the uprisings, a theme has arisen that members and staff alike are wanting to continue to do internal and external anti-racism work. As an additional way of supporting this, we have created an evolving Google document with educational resources, mental health resources for BIPOC, and RETF updates. We invite you to check it out at the following link: Google document
